Pent up air being let go with a sigh could be heard in the media room. A young girl sat in front of one of the many computers that were in the classroom. The screen before her showed at least fourty sets of videos, each set containing, at minimum, three clips. She had been working all day on her free choice project for class and it still wasn't finished. She had chosen to film some of her fellow students doing their regular things, as if it were a behind-the-scenes tour of the prestigious art academy. In the end, Tierney had ended up with thirty hours of film, and no idea how she could make it seem, well, perfect. Why had she thought that something good would come of it? There were just too many possibilities, too many shots, this was going to be impossible. A groan came from her as she banged her hand on the desk.
The young woman ran her fingers through her hair, staring in frustration at the screen, as if it would give her the answers that she so desperatley needed. With a shake of her head, she began scrolling through the different clips for just about the one hundreth time that day. No sudden, magnificent ideas were jumping out at her and she was becoming disappointed in herself. She felt like her entire body might just crash from all of her bundled up exhaustion. For the past seven hours she'd sat in that room, analyzing her video clips, attempting to pull one solid idea from them. After all that work, had she? Of course not. She always knew that she wouldn't make it in the always moving work of media. Why had she tried, anyway? Oh, thats right, her daddy pushed her to it. He had been one of those magnificent filmers, making magic happen from behind a video camera. Her father had always been her idol, no matter how many things he had done that should've made her turn away. She wanted to be just like him, at least the creative, loving man he used to be,
Tierney finally decided to just go for it and do what came best and to just try to go out on a whim. Her hand moved around with the mouse, dragging clips from the file folder to the storyboard. She shortened nearly every clip to ten seconds, some fifteen. She really basically just mix-and-matched the clips, jumbling them around until it was just a total montage of video clips with a background of catchy music. Feeling pleased, the girl watched the twenty minute film, her chin propped up on her palm. Eyes drooping, she fell asleep quietly, her chin slowly slipping from her chin. A loud crach ecohed through the room as the girl's forehead slammed against the keyboard. The young girl had always been a clumsy one. Her head shot up wildly and she brushed the hair out of her face, afraid to look and see if anyone was there. 'Oh God, Oh God, Oh God, this is so embarassing. What if someone is in here? Oh my God...', she thought to herself while she attempted to gather her barings.
Rummaging through her messenger bag at her feet, her fingers wrapped around her flash drive. With quick movements, she saved her somewhat finished product on the tiny memory device, shut the computer down, and began gathering her things. A bit of embarassment gripped at her and she was still afraid to see if anyone was in the class with her, having a silent fit of giggles of her ridiculousness. Her cheeks burned a bright red as she sat in her chair, all packed and ready to get back to her dorm. The girl couldn't stand, she was frozen to her seat. Tierney hopped desperatley that no one was with her, that no one was going to pop out at her and surprise her. She would have a heart attack if that were to happen, then she'd be even more embarassed because someone saw her have a heart attack. A shaking hand ran through her hair and she sighed again. Maybe she'd just say there for another hour, wait for the coast to be clear. Then again, she still didn't know if she had unexpected company or not. Well, she could still take precautions. Wasn't she just the nervous cherry on top the sundae of pity?
