THE BRIGHT LIGHTS TURN TO NIGHTTHE DAWN IT BRINGS ANOTHER DAY TO SING ABOUT THE MAGIC THAT WAS YOU AND ME - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Benjamin Greene walked casually through the crowded halls of Murphy Academy, quite at ease with himself and the world. It was one of those rare days where he wasn't constantly down on himself or feeling inadequate -- all in all, he was in a good mood. As he made his way in the direction of the courtyard, he could stop the small smile playing on his chiseled features. The nineteen-year-old felt rather content and, if he'd been more confident in himself than he was, he would have been whistling some sort of tune. Though his exterior was reserved and quiet, his brain was singing at the top of its fictional lungs. The song of choice? That catchy little Kenny Loggins tune, "Foot Loose." Ben wasn't too big a fan of the movie of the same name, but he just couldn't help but love the title song. It was infectious. Even in his worst of moods, he could put the song on his iPod as loud as the mp3 player could go and listen to it eight, ten, fifteen times in a row and not grow tired of it.
Yes, today was indeed a good day. Tucking his hands loosely in the front pockets of his Levi's, Ben blinked as he stepped out into the sunny courtyard. Once his eyes had adjusted to the sudden light, he glanced around. It looked like several other students had had the same idea as he to venture outside to enjoy the day. It wasn't often that the Irish arts academy experienced good weather, it only made sense that everyone would take advantage of it. Suddenly, his light green eyes caught site of a familiar form. His smile broadening, Benjamin made his way towards her. It was hard to keep his calm facade as he grew nearer to her with each step. But, then again, how could any hot-blooded male stay calm around Megan Anderson. She was gorgeous from head to toe -- at least, in his opinion. Ever since he'd first met her, Ben had kind of had a crush on her. It was a sad, adolescent type of thing that never got beyond a few bashful words and a shy smile. Needless to say, he was not very good at being the charming, ladies man every other guy at the academy seemed to be.
As he approached, her saw her stand up from her seat and instantly a jolt of disappointment shot through his gut. What if she'd seen him and that was the reason she was leaving? It would be embarrassing to continue to go up to her if she really didn't want to talk to him. Especially if she indicated as so and in front of everyone in the courtyard. Ben was of half a mind to turn on his heel and head on the opposite direction. At least, until he saw ehr drop her things. Before he could think, he closed the distance between him. Bending forward, he picked up a sheet of paper that had floated to the ground and quickly straightened. When she smiled at him his heart sputtered and an idiotic grin broke out on his face. "Not leaving are you?" He asked, offering the paper back to her. An instant later, he felt like a complete and utter imbecile for asking such a question. Had she not been in the motions of leaving when he'd seen her? But that was the affect Megan always had on him.

Megan felt an overwhelming rush of emotions run through her as she carefully took the paper back from Benjamin's hand. She quickly stuffed the paper back into her bag and ran her fingers through her luxurious hair for effect. Benjamin Greene was one of the hottest guys in Murphy Academy. Practically every girl drools a river over him whenever he walks by in the hallway. He always manages to flash them a smile, so they could get a cheap thrill off of the thought that Benjamin Greene in the flesh smiled at them. And then there was Megan. A sapphire with a fashion major in her tenth year. There's no denying that guys have always fancied her, but never anyone nearly as gorgeous as Benjamin. Guys at this school always act so upper class. Like they're too good for you or something. It's really unattractive and annoying. People need to realize that in the real world, no one likes someone like that. They really just need to get over themselves. But, Benjamin, he seems different. It's not like she'd ever have a chance with him, though. After all, they were 3 years apart. No guy as hot as him would settle for someone like her. She took a deep breath and answered, "Well, I'm not leaving if you aren't." She finished with a shy smile and looked into his deep brown eyes. Hopefully, he wasn't creeped out by her response. Maybe she should have gone for something more subtle like a simple, "No".

Could it be possible she actually wished to be be around him? Or was she just being flirtatious like other girls were? Benjamin was quite unaware of the appeal he posed for the female population of the academy. In fact, he didn't see much of anything attractive about him at all -- not that he really thought about that sort of thing anyway. His mind was usually caught up in a character he was trying to get down or material he was trying to memorize. The nineteen year old barely gave a flip about his appearance and he'd always thought that it was part of his problem when meeting new people. Half the time his hair was messy and uncombed and his overall appearance seemed unkempt. Now, however, he felt his lack of forethought sharply as he ran a nervous hand through his chestnut brown locks in an attempt to straighten them out. The shy boy was overwhelmed by the situation he now found himself in.
Yes, he'd had a child-like crush on the younger girl for nearly a year now. He wasn't used to being the instigator in conversations with peopled. Now, as he was confronted with an opportunity to further his confusing fledgling feelings for Megan, he felt quite out to sea. Scratching the underside of his jaw, he tried to look casual as he struggled to find something to say. "Oh, ah," he started uncertainly. He glanced over his shoulder towards a stone path that led out onto the grounds and an idea popped into his brain. Before he could censor what he was about to say, his mouth opened. "W-Would you, ah, like to take a walk, then?" He asked, not his head towards the path dumbly. His heart pounded as he waited for her answer, not quite certain which one he wanted to hear the most.

Megan removed her Prada sunglasses, and smiled at Benjamin. She put the sunglasses in her bag, and a ran hand through her hair. She pulled out her cell phone, and pretended to check her messages. "Oh, well, I kinda have to be somewhere to meet someone..." She said, faking a frown. The best way to make a guy want you was to pretend you weren't available, right?
She stuck her phone into her back pocket, and then looked up at Benjamin. He was a little taller than her, and she had to look up to see his face. As a gust of wind blew by, her hair flew toward her mouth, and it stuck to her lip gloss. She quickly removed it from her mouth, and then she let a small smile spread across her face.
"But, I'm pretty sure I can spare a few minutes." She said with a wink. She reached out for his hand, and smiled. "Shall we go now?"
Hopefully he wasn't the type of guy that was turned off by flirty girls. But, really, it didn't even matter. It's not like he was into her, and at least if he declined, he would still think that she was in high demand among the male population.

Blood heated high on his cheekbones even as he struggled not to blush in embarrassment. It was an humiliating trait to blush -- especially since he was nearly twenty years old. He felt like he was fifteen years old again, asking a girl he liked out. Not that he had much experience in that department, but still. The concept was the same. Obviously, however, he wasn't the only one interested in Megan. That fact neither surprised nor shocked him in any way. He was more surprised that she didn't have an entourage of males at her beck and call. Ben would have most likely have been among them had one existed. Absently, he rubbed the back of his neck.
"Oh, well," he started, trying to appear as nonchalant about it as he could. "I mean, if you have somewhere to be, I don't want to keep you. It was a stupid idea anyway," he shrugged, his eyes looking everywhere but at her. Had he been the more observant type when it came to the opposite sex, he might have noticed that Megan seemed quite willing to blow off whoever it was -- if indeed there was such a meeting set up. But, being as oblivious as he was, he noticed no such thing. In fact, the nineteen-year-old was feeling quite out of sorts at the possibility of another person. Running his hand through his unkempt hair, Benjamin tried to think of a way to make an exit without embarrassing himself. At least, any more than he already had.
