IT'S THE MOST GENUINE THING I'VE EVER SEEN
IT'S THE MOST GENUINE THING I'VE EVER SEEN
The day had been long and hard. It had actually gotten to the point where it was painful to sit through the classes. They seemed to be never ending, but when that final bell rang, a relief washed over Nicolea. She was finally free, and that was something to smile about. Right after class, she headed straight to the library, so she could get her homework finished early, having the rest of the day to herself to do whatever she pleased. Once she arrived in the library, she choose to sit at a table in the corner, so she knew no one would bother her, even though she knew no one would bother her anywhere she sat. Pulling out her trig worksheet, she scribbled her answers down, not even taking the time to double check them, which was normally a neccessity for Nici, but right now, she couldn't care less. She just wanted to be finished and she knew that the teacher would give her credit, all she had to do was make an honest attempt at the problems, which she was. After trig, she wrote out a short summary of the chapter in her anatomy class. After about an hour of diligant work, Nici was finished with everything, and she was proud.
After gathering up her things, Nici headed toward her locker, so she could put everything away in it's exact place, where it belonged. Grabbing her white jacket, she then shut her locker and slipped it on. She knew where she was going to go, out to the crystal lake, a place she hadn't been in quite some time. She hurried down the stair well, which seemed to be deserted, and then out of the building through the courtyard. The air was still a bit chilly, but the sun was still high in the sky, and it would probably stay that way for a little while. As she strolled through the courtyard, her hands were shoved in the front pockets of her jeans. She let the wind whip through her hair, not caring much for what it looked like right at the moment. It was a wavy mess most of the time anyway, so she didn't mind if mother nature wanted to play with it from time to time. The walk from the courtyard to the lake took only about ten quick moments, going by faster than expected. She walked over to the dock and stood in front of it, looking off at the picture that was painted in front of her.
Slipping off her socks and shoes, Nici felt a chill go down her spine when she stepped onto the varnished wood of the dock. It was chilly to the touch, but after the next few slow steps, she seemed to get used to it. When she reached the end of the dock, she sat down at the edge, rolling up her jean pant legs just enough so they wouldn't even be close enough to get wet. She then dipped her toes into the cold water, shivering slightly at the tempurature, but, as she did with the dock, her toes got used to the water and weren't cold anymore. She looked out and saw the trees spread out as far as the eye could see in front of her. The sight was just gorgeous, like something you would read about in a romantic novel or see in a famous art gallery. The whole thing reminded her of a childhood trip she took with her family to the beach. It was truly a wonderful place and Nici would have loved to go back one day, but she really didn't see that happening any day soon. For now, this just had to do.
