dead. all dead. i'd say you could read the obituary if you didn't believe me, but it's long been thrown away by now. the year is 5210. it's been a long time since the cullens ran wild on the earth, since the volturi sat on their pretty little thrones and wasted away to nothing. how did they die, you ask? easy. there was a huge battle, a battle that almost eradicated the vampire and shifters species completely. the volturi rallied their army, and the cullens rallied theirs. the armies were almost equal in size, and every last one of them died. only a few vampires were left on the fact of the earth, and they destroyed the evidence of the battle. and the evidence that these people ever existed. the cullens, their friends, the volturi, their followers...all forgotten save the ones that saw the evidence. and they never told a soul.
years later, the vampire race has grown again, and so in response, the shifters race has grown. our setting takes place in little ole' appleton, wisconsin. it's got some cold winters and falls, but spring and summer are alright. it's pretty much clouded over all the time, but there are a few sunny days to look forward to, if you're the right kind of person, that is. vampires are migrating more and more to this little town, seeing it as a bit of a refuge for the moment for some odd reason. but all these vampires can only mean one thing, and you guessed it. the local indian tribe, the Oneida tribe, has rediscovered its roots. this tribe shifts into wolves mainly, but as a few other indians migrated into the tribe and joined in with all--and it was long forgotten they were outsiders by now--these old newcomers descendants take on the shape of the great mountain lion, and so the outsiders have been spotted once again, and the wolf pack seems to think itself superior to the lion pride.
and the humans stay oblivious of course, unless they live on the reservation, and then most of them notice when the boys shoot up and start acting odd, and if they're in on the secret than they always seem to have trouble keeping it to themselves. but if you were a human in appleton, what would you think? you've got all these pale, cold people running around now, and then suddenly the natives on the reservation just a mile or two from town act different than they did before. is it all a mystery? or are we just that damned innocent?
( SO DAMNED INNOCENT )
