Tally sat down at one of the tables with a salad in one hand and a diet soda in the other, a little unsure of herself. She hadn't really talked to anyone here so, alas, she didn't really know a soul. Okay, so maybe that was something that she did on her part, but the problem with her was that she was shy. And she was not just shy, she was crazy shy. The idea of going to a fabulous boarding school had scared her at first, but she quickly adjusted to the idea. Besides, the boarding school had been in Ireland, someplace Tally had always wanted to go to all her life. The chance came up and she snatched it right away.
Now, here Tally found herself sitting alone at a lunch table. "Damn you fairy tale," she muttered under her breath as she stabbed a piece of lettuce with her fork and stuffed it in her mouth. The lettuce was crispy, or so it seemed, and not wilted. This made her somewhat happier, because she loved salads and her brother made fun of her for that. Besides, her old school had really bad food. The lettuce was wilted and the rest was just horrible beyond words. She sighed as she ate some more of the leafy greens.
Apparently someone had walked up to her now, because one of the first things she heard around her was someone giggling. This really confused Tally because who on Earth would talk to her now? She was always the one who sat in the back of the class room cursing under her breath, talking bad about Romeo and Juliet. Okay, so maybe she could have been a bit more friendly to people, and not acted like so much of a bookworm. And as Tally, she was not the one to go up to people and make friends. And Tally was Tally was Tally...if that made any sense.
The sound of someone giggling returned again, and she looked up to see who it was. Biting her lip, she set her fork down on top of the salad. "Hey," she said to them. "I'm Tally...." She smiled a little at the person, very unsure of what else to say or do.
